Happy May Day, to all you beautiful people. The sun is shining and it’s a glorious day in Omaha, Nebraska. We’ve got three boys in baseball with Trevor coaching one team. I’m not sure who needs to hear this, but go enjoy this season of life! Plant the garden. Book the vacation. Sign up for the class. Order the swimsuit! Give it a whirl.
I hope you decide life is exciting and choose to make the steps to go for it!
On the business side of life, we are working hard at getting all the projects installed. Our team is out there doing what they do best. Installing spaces you (our client) adore. On the family side of life, out family is growing up and we are trying to cherish all the moments.
Have a beautiful first day of May. Do you need to get that estimate set up? Let me make it easy for you. Head to this link to get started. We hope to hear from you soon!
As we move into spring, I’m encouraged. I’m encouraged by new growth. As I watch my tulips grow and begin to blossom, I see a beautiful miracle. To those of you who have caught the garden growing bug, like myself, it’s addicting to watch new life burst through the ground from those tiny seeds or bulbs you planted. It’s addicting to watch grass gain color and fullness. It’s sometimes a pain to cut said grass, but that’s not my point.
We love to watch nature grow, but how have YOU grown as a person? Have you ever taken the time to write out your dreams? Do you know how to make those dreams into small goals to accomplish everyday so you CAN reach those dreams you’ve got?
Here at Phillips Tile & Stone, we like to dream. We like to plan. We like to accomplish.
I’m here to challenge you to dream and to plan. Do you want to remodel a room in your home? Do you want to take a trip? Do you want to get healthy? Do you want to change careers? Do you want to finish that degree?
No matter your dream, big or small. We’d like to encourage you to take that next step, beyond the dream and move into the planning part to make that goal a reality.
We believe you’ve got what it takes to accomplish that dream! Let’s start this new spring season filled with HOPE and gusto. Happy spring, friends!

Is it safe to assume, we all enjoy getting to know more about a company and a little bit about it’s backstory? I’ve been told it’s never safe to assume, however, there are some new faces around here and that means a short introduction to our small business. Here are a few facts about Phillips Tile & Stone you might not know!
-Our company was created during the height of the recession in 2010. Yes, that was a nail biting time to create a company, however, a true entrepreneur creates what they do not find.
-Does anyone remember the year 2010? Because of the time when our company was created, we never took out any loans to create Phillips Tile & Stone so we have slowly grown. As business owners, we have felt all the feels as we navigate a recession and a pandemic. We are thankful. There isn’t any other word for it. Thankful.
-Those early years we relied solely on word of mouth marketing. Our clients are the best and continue to be the best!! Do you want to know something interesting? Roughly 70% of our projects are STILL from word of mouth referrals, that is incredible. YOU all are amazing! We will say it again, our clients are the best.
-We are a family business. We are a husband and wife team with a talented construction crew and incredible sub contractors.
-As a small business, we adore being able to create jobs for our community. Do you know of a talented craftsman looking for a career? Send them our way!
-We value excellent craftsmanship and integrity. One Hundred Percent.
-To say we are grateful for the opportunity to serve Omaha and the surrounding areas, would be putting it mildly. It makes our hearts burst knowing the past 10.5 years we’ve had the honor of creating beautiful spaces our clients love!
As you get to know our small business we hope you hear gratitude and a desire to continue making our small business BETTER. For our clients and our employees. We consider it an honor to serve you!
2021 is here, so let’s try something new! Our company has partnered up with a local custom T-shirt company and all profits will be donated to a non-profit! This new venture allows us to tackle three birds with one stone, and YOU get to be that stone. 🙂
T-shirts? Why t-shirts? Our ‘why’ is very simple. Our hope is to send the money raised to The Open Door Mission. We all need extra help at times in life and this organization does a great job extending a helping hand to those in need. Besides, who doesn’t like wearing a good t-shirt? When I came across this opportunity AJ was offering, there were zero hesitations in my mind this was something Phillips Tile & Stone needed to try.
Your t-shirt order will cover the cost of production and $4 from every t-shirt sale will go directly to The Open Door Mission. As for our logo, you get to represent a small, family business that was created from scratch in Omaha, Nebraska. Click here to order your t-shirt!
Thank you for allowing us this dream of creating beautiful spaces you love.
Have a beautiful day, friends!
Heather GreySilverMeet AJ! The owner/Operator of Big Frog Custom T-shirts. He’s been so great to work with as we got the t-shirt thing off the ground.
As we wave goodbye to 2020 and say hello to 2021. We can honestly say it was a packed year. We worked hard to continue serving clients and our employees are always at the forefront of our thoughts. We are so grateful for our Phillips Tile & Stone Team! We are so grateful for those who continue to utilize our services!
We are pumped to roll out a new opportunity for 2021, we’ll call it t-shirts for a cause! If 2020 taught us anything, it’s to shop small. We are partnering with Big Frog Custom T-shirts to not only support AJ’s small business but $4 from your t-shirt sale will go directly to the Open Door Mission. The Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission founded in 1954 committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Each day, Open Door Mission’s campus offers 917 safe, shelter beds to people experiencing homelessness, serves over 4,747 nutritious meals to feed the hungry, and provides homeless preventive resources to more than 1,000 people living in poverty to empower them to remain in their own homes. Trevor and I ordered our own t-shirts a few days ago (click here to order yours) and we can’t wait to show them to you all! On our end, you’ll be a walking billboard for Phillips Tile & Stone and that alone sounds pretty cool to us.
If it’s alright with you, I’d like to share 10 things we are thankful for that happened in 2020 for our family and Phillips Tile & Stone. As a small, family business, we have felt all the feels this year. Growth, stretching, momentum, tiredness and lots of hard work are some words I would use to describe this year. Here are 10 things we are thankful for this year.
Our rainbow baby boy was born! He came fast and furiously on February 26th, right before the world was paused. We are so thankful for him!
We were able to still participate in Awana at our church. The older four kids enjoy it and Trevor enjoys being a Sparks Leader.
We created a co-op! It has been such a blessing as we homeschool and we weren’t sure how the school year would look. Creating this group has been such a good outlet for both fun and educational.
Phillips Tile & Stone won Best of Omaha Tile Installer! Thank YOU to all who voted. We work hard to make our clients happy!
We made a few more of our own home improvements.
Our family was able take a couple short vacations. One was glamping in a beautiful cabin by a lake with wonderful friends and the other was to The Elms. It was so refreshing to have these short getaways!
Phillips Tile & Stone turned 10 years old and we celebrated with local giveaways on our FB and IG accounts!
Trevor and Michelle celebrated 11 years of marriage.
Trevor coached baseball while our older two played. The boys also were able to play soccer and continue piano lessons.
Through everything that happened this year, we were still able to work and provide service to our clients while providing for our family, our employees and their families! We are grateful. So grateful. Thank you to all our clients this year!!
This year we saw God provide again and again. No matter how your Christmas looks this year, remember that the Savior of the world was born in a lowly stable. He was born to die for my sin and yours. You are loved by Him. Jesus is worthy to be praised!
I sat here for a few minutes wondering exactly how to start this blog post. I’ve already started and deleted many sentences because this topic is so near and dear to my heart. So here is what I WILL say. We love our Omaha and we want our city to succeed and thrive! So how can we help our city thrive? How can we help Omaha thrive?
We can support local!
How do we do that? Why would we do that?
Local businesses are essential for our economy. Local businesses create employment, growth and innovation! Local businesses are what make OUR city unique!
It’s also fun to support local. If you want something unique, support local! Here are some of my favorite local Omaha spots. Have you been to a spot you love? Tell me. Trevor and I would love to try it out on one of our date nights.
Karma Koffee- I have a special place in my heart for this business as they donated to a local heart organization we are apart of. Karma Koffee – Home | Facebook
The hour at which I’m writing this blog post is silly because my stomach is aching for some of these delicious foods. Let’s turn up the noise on supporting local! Tell me your best local Omaha spot, I’d love to hear!
Congratulations! You have a brand new Laminate floor!! Yay! Now what? It’s silly to expect any material to get their full years’ of use without proper care. If you have a Laminate floor, keep reading for maintenance tips! It’s easier to maintain than you might think.
Follow routine maintenance guidelines to clean your laminate flooring
*Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. Never allow liquids to stand on your floor.
*Sweep, dust, or vacuum the floor regularly with the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar) to prevent accumulation of dirt and grit that can scratch or dull the floor finish.
*Do not wash or wet mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent, or any other liquid cleaning material. This could cause swelling, warping, delamination, and joint-line separation, and void the warranty.
*Do not use steel wool, abrasive cleaners, or strong ammoniated or chlorinated type cleaners.
*Do not use any type of buffing or polishing machine.
*For spots such as candle wax or chewing gum, harden the spot with ice and then gently scrape with a plastic scraper, such as a credit card. Be careful not to scratch the flooring surface. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
*A more frequent dust-mopping or vacuuming schedule may be required in very sandy areas such as a beach or lake home.
Ways to protect your laminate flooring to keep it looking like new!
*To prevent slippage of area rugs, use an approved vinyl rug underlayment.
*Use floor protectors and wide-load bearing leg bases/rollers to minimize the chance of indentations and scratches from heavy objects. As a rule, the heavier the object, the wider the floor protector.
*Maintain a normal indoor relative humidity level between 35% and 65% throughout the year to minimize the natural expansion and contraction of the wood.
*Avoid excessive exposure to water during periods of inclement weather.
*Keep your pets’ nails trimmed to prevent them from scratching your floor.
*Never try to slide heavy objects across the floor.
*A protective mat should be used for furniture or chairs with casters.
Hopefully you found a few of these tips helpful and useful. As always, please contact us or comment below if you have further questions!
This year, as a small and local family owned business, we are feeling extra thankful for you!
While Thanksgiving this year might look different than it did last year, we are counting our blessings. Everyday, we work hard to cultivate a construction company that our families and clients can be proud of. We, as a family of 7, personally wanted to THANK YOU for continuing to support this dream of small business owning. We have some additional services that we plan to be rolling out for 2021. So hold on to your socks. 🙂
We hope you take time today to reflect on what you are grateful for. We would love to hear from you and what makes you thankful.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving day, friends!
The Phillips Family
We are thankful for our bundle of love that was added to our family in 2020.
